Running Injury Treatments

Runner's knee, shin splints and back pain are all very common symptoms that can occur when the body is not prepared to tolerate the demands of running. We work with a number of people who have failed in previous rehab approaches when they have gotten back to the return to running phase. This is because they haven’t followed a systematic and graded approach between getting pain free, strength work and returning to running. This is important to both build the physical strength & power to tolerate running and also reassure your brain it is safe to run again.

At MOVE we will provide you with a clear pathway to return to running with objective markers that we will support you to hit along the way.

  • The typical appointment follows a sequence of assessment, treatment & rehabilitation. During the assessment we will make it crystal clear what we believe your problem is & how we plan to resolve it. Treatment & rehabilitation will be very engaging with our primary aim being that you leave with confidence and reassurance how to achieve your goals.

After your appointment you will be sent a follow up email containing videos and details of all your exercises so you have no doubts that you are doing the wrong thing between appointments.

  • Typically you will feel absolutely fine, and have clarity on what your problem is and how to resolve it!

Occasionally you may feel a little sore for a few days after your session, particularly if you’ve worked muscles that haven’t been worked for a while or if you needed a lot of hands on treatment in the first session. If that’s the case, please continue with your exercises and it will settle down within 48 hours.

Sometimes, depending on the treatment you received, you may have slight bruising. If that’s the case please don’t panic – it’s just your body’s response to some of the hands on treatment and will disappear within a few days.

If you have any worries or questions please don't hesitate to contact us.

  • Online sessions follow the exact same sequence as in-person appointments.

The only difference is that all treatment is exercise based.

We actually find these appointments to be as, if not more effective than in-person appointments because it enables you to take ownership of your recovery rather than feeling you 'need' hands-on treatment which is extremely empowering for you.
